SHERCO AND CABESTANY HAVE AMBITIOUS PLANS FOR 2010
Albert Cabestany and Sherco will face 2010 with new motivation. The rider from Tarragona, who has been representing the brand in the world trials championships, has a new season set before him that has new challenges. He will be competing on the new Sherco ST10 with its many advanced technical innovations and he will also be back on a 2-stroke. This is after competing on the 4-stroke for the past two seasons, which has allowed the Franco-Spanish brand to solidify its leadership in this market.
The renewal of the contract between Cabestany and Sherco for 2010 marks the fifth season of collaboration between the two parties. They are facing an ambitious sports program for 2010 which includes the world indoor and outdoor championships as well as the Spanish championships and other major international events.
Albert Cabestany is currently the vice world indoor champion and the world team champion in both indoor and outdoor. Cabestany will ride the new Sherco ST10 at the first World Indoor round which will be held in Sheffield (UK) on January 9, 2010. For Cabestany, back to the 2-stroke presents a new challenge: “After two years on the 4-stroke, back to a simple engine means a new motivation for me. However, the evolution of this engine has shown to be very dramatic with the new bike. I think we will be very competitive from the start of the season”.
Josep R. Paxau, technical manager of Sherco has these thoughts, “Cabes has a particularly fine sensitivity and adapts easily to any type of engine. Our work on the evolution of both the 2-stroke engines and the 4-stroke is a joint effort now and we have decided to give new impetus to the 2-stroke engine”.
According to Marc Teissier, Sherco senior manager, “The Sherco image in recent years has been linked to that of Cabestany. This union has been successful and provided an excellent image that we will carry while we continue our ascent to power”.
